Hosting a Virtual Pink Ribbon Breakfast

Hosting a Virtual Pink Ribbon Breakfast

Top 6 tips for an unforgettable Pink Ribbon Breakfast – the digital edition!

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is back with their legendary Pink Ribbon Breakfast. This time they’re on a mission to raise $1.5 million for game changing breast cancer research. Their goal of ‘zero deaths from breast cancer by 2030’ is phenomenal, and one we’re proud to rally behind. To show our support, we’re matching every dollar donated to Pink Ribbon Breakfast Hosts on the 1st October 2020, up to a total of $10,000.

And of course, you’re invited to the party! There’s no better reason to get together with friends, have a beautiful brekkie and raise as much as you can for this worthwhile cause. However, in true 2020 style, we’ll be doing things a little differently this year. To keep everyone safe while socialising, we’re designing the dream digital breakfast.

If you’re hosting, we know you’ll want your event to be special, so we’ve put together a few ideas to help make your online Pink Ribbon Breakfast a success.

Tip 1 – Think digital

If you haven’t already, it’s time to embrace social time online! To host a live online event, you’ll need to choose a group meeting platform and set up an account. Some platforms cap meetings to about 40 minutes unless you pay for an account, so it may be worth hunting around for the best option. You’ll want to choose one that lets you invite lots of guests to your “party” and gives you plenty of support to get set up.

Tip 2 – Beautiful food

Think healthy, colourful and fresh.  A sumptuous breakfast is a great start to any day, and there’s no reason that an online breakfast should be any different! As the host, you could email out a menu and shopping list to all your guests, so they can prepare something for the day. Individual serve and little treats are always fun – glasses or jars can be prettied up with ribbons (pink of course)! Check our selection of Pink Ribbon breakfast recipes for inspiration.

Tip 3 – Sparkling refreshments

Partying is thirsty work, even in the morning! Mocktails at breakfast time lend a sense of occasion. Once again you could choose to send out a mocktail recipe and ingredient list in advance. You could even go a little tropical with a mini umbrella and cherry in each glass.  Sparkling grape or cranberry juice are perfect for your pink theme, and strawberries in sparkling water make for a fizzing impression.

Tip 4 -  Pink, Pink, Pink

Go all out and go PINK. If there’s one day of the year you can do it, this is it. To start you off we’ve created a special EasiYo pink background for your online breakfast – save the image and share it with your guests for the ultimate pink party (download our background image here.) You could also suggest pink outfits, pink fascinators, pink balloons, pink ribbons, pink feather boas… this is your chance to get inventive so let your imagination run wild!

Tip 5 - Time saving tips

Start planning well ahead. A well-thought out menu will make all the difference, especially if most of it can be prepared ahead of time (think muesli and yogurt pots!) Give yourself and your guests enough time to shop for ingredients. We know preparing for an event alone can feel a little odd, so stay in touch with your guests via social as you get sorted for the big day.

Tip 6 – Don’t forget the money, honey!

Everyone knows they’re joining your breakfast to support a great cause, so don’t be shy about asking for money. Make it fun – run a raffle or try an auction with donated prizes from local businesses. You could also get in touch with wider friends and family to see who has ‘prizes’ they could donate – a stay in a holiday house, some specialist skills or a dinner drop off!

Let’s help the National Breast Cancer Foundation change the game for breast cancer. Thanks for supporting this amazing cause – we’re excited to be doing it together!
